The Value of Rain

The Value of Rain

The rain finally came and what a difference it made. It enhanced the transition to spring, making it clearer, faster than it had been before, after a long rain-less period.

After the rain, as buds swell and leaves grow, I could see a deeper yellow-green hue in the new foliage of shrubs, brambles, and tree tops. Gratifying, but my eyes were somewhere else, as they often are, observing the textures and patterns created by rain and rainwater.

This Beech tree’s bark always had a noticeable texture but as the rain soaked its trunk downward, that was emphasized and an element of color was added that hadn’t been as visible before. I guess I knew that rain made our world beautiful, but I never considered exactly how that was manifested.

I’m glad I noticed!
