Assemblage
Leaves seem to be a theme around here lately. Given the season, I suppose that’s not a surprise. The wind blows, the leaves fall; something to look at to attempt to distract us from the long night and chill days.
I am struck by how intentional this assortment looks, of leaves, acorns, and the stray goose feather. It was not put together on purpose, certainly not by me, yet it seems to have a sense of design, of purpose about it.
Perhaps I’m overthinking this. It’s just a bunch of random objects floating in overly green water. But that’s the whole point! We are surrounded by bunches of random objects that arrange themselves from time to time into elegant, graceful assemblies for no reason we can see or understand. And the beauty is just for our eyes, if we are open to seeing it.
