Final snowfall

Marc GoldringComment

We’ve not had that much snow this winter, only one 12 inch snowfall and several in the 4-8 inch range. But when it’s fallen, it has been surprisingly beautiful. Maybe I’m usually focused on the sidewalk clearing part and so miss the glory. But not this time.

And, even better, I was out several times with the camera. This shot, with Jamaica Pond invisibly in the background, is one of my favorites. It captures the gentle fury of the wind-driven snow. Here is this place, designed to mimic the natural world but to be inhabited by humans. And here it is, devoid of people.

I want to remember that quiet as the snow fell. I want to bring that silence into my life, to find a way to stay present without the muffling comfort of falling snow.
