June's Morning Sun

The day started out overcast when I reached the Arb early this morning. By the time I passed through the Poplar Gate and headed toward Bussey Brook, there was some sunlight peeking through the clouds. It was a perfect morning, given its imperfections.

I love this part of the Arb, tree-dark in bright sunlight and mysterious when overcast. Somehow, it leaves more to the imagination - more feels possible. It is timeless and ageless, a vignette of woods slammed together by natural forces over ages. Its impact is distinct from that of a vista - not inspiring, no awe here. Just calming and centering to look at, even in the haphazard array of trees and rocks and sunlight.
