Color

Flowing and stationery; discipline and abandon; calm and frantic. Somehow this image reminds me of these opposites. Maybe the colors and textures reflect some of the tension and motion I feel in this image.

When I was shooting, all I noticed were the verticals top and bottom and the fluid horizontals in the middle. It was only as I worked on the image in post-production that I saw the possibilities in the opposites, especially the range of color.

With all the motion in this shot, I’m surprised to notice that I find it quite calming. Maybe it’s motion and stillness together. We’ll see how I feel in a month or so…
