Frozen reflections
Perhaps it ought not have surprised me that much of the pond was frozen, or was at least covered with a skim of ice. Certainly the morning was chilly enough. I guess it’s just the impact of the dissonance of the transition to colder weather.
Whatever the reason, I was caught off guard. I hadn’t thought about my portfolio of pond reflections and how I might shoot an ice-covered pond. And it was a small revelation! Ice distorts what’s underneath more than water. So while leaves and stones are visible, they are harder to read.
And that’s what attracts me! Struggling to identify familiar objects means that we’re moving slower, working on seeing with great concentration. That’s usually a good thing!
