Ambivalent
Yet another shot of the pond in Forest Hills Cemetery. Much of the water in the pond is covered with algae as you can see from this shot. Or at least you can once I tell you what your looking at.
I came upon this pattern in the water and it took my breath away. It reminds me of a childhood art “toy” that involved putting oil paint on water and making swirls and patterns. I did enjoy that as a kid. And now I come across it on a larger scale. And it looks lovely.
The thing is, though, that this is an excess of fertilizer that is running off into the water and causing the bloom. So it’s lovely but a sign of a sort of solution. I hope I’m wrong about that but that’s what it seems like from what I know.
So, yes, ambivalent…
