Dance
Another shot from Scarboro Pond in Franklin Park. This is right at the edge of the Pond and it’s so different from Jamaica Pond, which is considerably more manicured. There’s an element of wild woodland about this place that appeals to me.
I know this is a designed space and part of the wildness is lack of funding to maintain it properly. That’s too bad: this place is a solace to many, especially during the pandemic. But at the same time, this quality of wildness, of being closer to the natural world feeds me.
This particular tree seems to be dancing with the Pond - just at the edge, leaning in toward the water, gracing the surface with its branches. Old, fallen, rotting limbs from this tree or another litter the ground, reminding me that while the tree flourishes, it - as all of us - have a life span.
Walk around this Pond, you’ll enjoy it. Or just get out somewhere green away from the push of what our lives have become. You will come back perhaps changed.
