There’s so much going on here. It’s a good thing I was paying attention when I took this shot so I stand a chance of remembering what it is. Honestly though, I suspect I’d figure it out even if I didn’t remember, as I imagine you can sort it out as well.

What a cacophony of textures, shapes, and colors! As logs rot, they become a home for all sorts of simple living things, with an amazing array of forms and sizes. Truth be told, I don’t have a clue what any of these are but I do know they are fun to look at, which is sufficient for me to capture this image.

Yet, it is more than that. I revere trees and their quiet, stolid contribution to our ability to survive on this planet; and to me that means honoring their gentle, slow decline as well as their graceful living connection. It’s all part of the same cycle.
