House plant

Having decided I needed a pet and not being one to scoop poop, either on the street or in the litter box, I found a plant to fall in love with. It’s called Alocasia and it is very exotic, very dramatic. I didn’t know that this plant was considered “challenging” to grow when I fell in love, but that happens, doesn’t it?

So I’m doing my best to care for it, mostly giving it not too much and not too little water and talking to it, saying encouraging words. I’m not sure how I’m doing in the few months I’ve had it, but it has been growing lots of new leaves, which I choose to see as a good sign.

Yesterday, I decided to take some shots of the plant. It’s so flamboyant in how its leaves grow, so tall, with seeming abandon. It was fun! I took about 50 shots and actually got half a dozen I liked. It was hard to get a shot of the full plant but that wasn’t what attracted me anyway. Rather, I liked the strong geometry, the textures, the colors.
