Time change
Just a few days ago, we went through the confusing and ultimately fruitless exercise of pretending we can control time by turning our clocks back one hour. Obviously, what we gain in the morning, we lose in the afternoon. Someone some time ago decided that this trade-off was worthwhile. I’ve got more important issues to focus on but I do want to note that this is completely nonsensical.
That said, there is a silver lining for me, or perhaps it’s a gold lining. This is it: since for whatever reason I get up at the same time every morning whether we are EST or EDT, I’m getting out for my morning walk the equivalent of an hour later. That means the familiar landscape is often lit in a completely different way. And the yellow-gold colors of the leaves with the sun behind them, pretty amazing.
This shot is not the most dramatic view of autumn colors. What appeals to me is this gloriously graceful tree backlit by this tumult of leaves. If I’m remembering correctly (hardly to be taken for granted), this was at Jamaica Pond. Whenever, whenever, what a blessing to see!
