Looking in odd places...

We were on the hillside in Larz Anderson Park, a family visit long awaited and bedeviled by Covid. So we were outside, of course, and masked and running around, playing hida-and-seek so that my daughter from out-of-town could spend some time with her nephew. It’s called making the best of a bad bargain, something I suspect we’ve all learned a lot about in the past two years.

The hillside had a small, decaying concrete structure, not exactly a bandshell, not exactly a gazebo. Whatever it had been, it offered some excellent hiding places from a seven-year-old seeker. Alongside the structure, there were some small rotting wooden supports, not readily visible. Unless, of course, you were searching for the best possible hiding place…

There it was. A weathered, textured remnant of wood, with extraordinary colors and expressive shapes. I took a few shots and in my excitement managed to make myself visible to searching eyes. Not my best move at hide-and-seek, but it was worth it to find this image!
