Colors

The grass was almost completely saturated close to the pond at the Forest Hills Cemetery. Every step caused water to ooze out from under my boot. And it was raining. When I walk through the Cemetery, I’m on a roadway until I get to the pond. That’s where I slow down and notice the natural world around me, rather than the grave markers and mausoleums.

It seems that in the rain, the colors and textures of the trees are more pronounced. And this tree in particular benefits from the rain. It’s a hemlock, which somehow surprises me – I don’t associate this arrange of colors with hemlock. Obviously that’s my limitation.

I seem to collect trees, ones that I come back to and shoot time and again. Often the shots are similar and one simply replaces the older shot. But in this case, the tree was similar but the image was very different.  Lucky for me!
