At the risk of not playing to our ever-present need for novelty, I offer another image that details the amazing diversity of tree bark. (It’s really astonishingly wonderful to get close in and notice!) I’ve been focused on these shots because it’s the work I will present as part of a group show at The Griffin Museum in Winchester, MA in March.

And what fun I’m having with it! Today we have a close-up of a sycamore tree, the one near the Parkman Drive side of Jamaica Pond. (By the way, there are two other sycamores up on the Pinebank Promontory overlooking the Pond. Worth taking a look, they’re marvelous!)

In this shot, I love the level of detail. Each tree is different. And from this shot, would I have known the tree was a sycamore, which is otherwise pretty easy to identify when you see the entire being? Not sure…

Lately, I’ve been focusing on printing and framing, rather than shooting, so odds are I’ll find something new and exciting to post here soon. Novelty will return, or such is my plan. In the meantime, let me know what you think of this detail.
