Sunrise

Sunrises, obviously, happen every day, some mornings more colorful than others. I see a lot of them, walking around Peters Hill early. Today was one of the more interesting and complex of them.
As I started around, there were vague streams of lavender and purple alternating with clouds. I thought that was all we’d see. But the colors got more intense, took over more of the sky. It was only happenstance that I glanced up, otherwise I might have missed this extraordinary display.
I had stopped looking: I had an idea in my mind that the sunrise was over and a hasty assessment almost caused me to miss it at its height. A good reminder to keep looking and not assume you know what you’ll see before you see it!
