As I look back on earlier posts, it seems to me that many of these images evoke textures, colors, and shapes far from their origin in the bark of trees. Of course, that’s a big part of what I love – looking at one thing and seeing echoes of another, very different thing.

 Depending on how I squint, this looks like fallow field with some enigmatic, dark central area; or perhaps it feels more like skin from a wizened body of some creature, real or imagined.

 I’m not at all sure which feels more satisfying but that is often the case with new images – it takes me a while to decide, after the first intake of breath when they emerge, whether they have anything more to say beyond being a curiosity. Not to say that’s not enough; maybe it is. But at this moment, so close to its birth, I simply will have to wait and see…
