Detail in water

Marc GoldringComment

Before I started paying attention to reflections, I don’t think I expected to see fine detail when I look at an image reflected in water. I’ve learned that there is great detail in reflections, especially if you look carefully. So, as usual thoughtful, intent looking reveals what isn’t first seen.

In this image I can see more detail in the reflection than in the branches and roots above the water. Or perhaps this is an illusion that’s the result of the difference in color - the water is more monochromatic than the above-water elements.

This interests me. I can’t honestly say this is a stellar image, feels a bit wandering and all over the place. But there are elements in the image that I like. And it is pointing me to something that I will think about and look for when I am shooting.

That’s useful, too!
