Trick?
I was attracted to the fallen tree, its leaves gone, sitting in mid-summer looking like deep winter. It was once I got it into Lightroom that I noticed the optical illusion - the horizontal section looks like the bottom half is a reflection of the top. OK, maybe it’s just me - I do have a thing about symmetrical images involving reflections. But truth is, it’s a tree that fell over and of course a bit of careful looking shows that the top and bottom aren’t mirror images.
Still I enjoyed that momentary confusion, that comes with many of my images and I find it refreshing to be forced out of my expected way of seeing. Beyond that, the weathered limbs, devoid of anything green, framed by the lush vegetation, is a picture of the living and dying that happens in the woods all the time.
Several things to look at!
