Snow in the morning

Marc GoldringComment

After yesterday’s storm, it was surprisingly calm this morning. It was cold out and the sky was clear - that sharp clarity when the temperature is low. And it was quiet, solitary, especially in the Arboretum. I passed few cars, fewer dog walkers, just one runner.

There’s something almost holy about seeing the day start, the sun rise, the world come into focus. For me, it’s partly that the colors are so unlike sky-colors at any other time of day. But I also have, an intuition, a sense of excitement, that the curtain is rising, who knows what will happen, it could be something uniquely wonderful! For those few moments, not every day but increasingly often, I remember the clean slate of morning.
