Changing light

Marc GoldringComment

I’m just getting used to summer and it feels like it’s almost over! OK, that’s not completely accurate from the perspective of the calendar; but some days the light makes the passage of time more clear.

Our days go along, one after the other, same as usual; I walk around Peters Hill most mornings, same as usual; time passes whether I’m paying attention to it or not. And then circumstances align and I slow down and notice the quality of the light. It’s been almost six weeks since the solstice in June and what happens in tiny daily increments is noticeable in that moment.

Oh, there’s no surprise here, really. It just hits me harder because I was shocked into attentiveness and saw the illuminated grass. Such a blessing of light, to remind me, so gently, so elegantly of passing time.
